5 SIMPLE TRICKS FOR GETTING ORGANIZED IN THE NEW YEAR

As you begin the new year, are you excited about simplifying, decluttering, and creating a more peaceful and ordered home? Well, you are not alone! According to statisticbrain.com, getting organized is the second most popular New Year’s resolution.

5 simple tricks to getting organized in the new year:

1. Toss, Donate, Keep

As you go through each space you are cleaning out, divide everything into “Toss, Donate, and Keep.” Ask these questions as you clean out each space and are deciding what to keep: do I use this? do I need it? do I love it? If the answer is “not really” to any of those then release it.

2. Keep A Donation Bag In Your Closet

If those jeans are too tight, that sweater itches, that toy is outgrown, put it in the donation bag. When the bag is full, donate it and replace with a new bag! Before you know it, you will have a clutter-free home.

3. Set Small Goals

Is your sock drawer a mess? Take 10 minutes, dump it out, find the pairs, get rid of the extras and organize according to color (this is an awesome sock drawer organizer). Sometimes just getting one area cleaned out helps you get momentum so that tomorrow you can tackle another drawer or cabinet.

4. Look For Piles

Wherever there is a pile in your home, there is a need for a system. Is it a pile of shoes? Consider a shoe basket or an over-the-door shoe organizer. Is it a pile of papers? Create a system for the papers that are piling up so that you can find them when you need them.

5. Consider Enlisting Help

Just as with any goal, sometimes it is helpful to call in an expert. If you want to lose weight or get in shape many people hire a personal trainer to experience better results. Think of me as a personal trainer for your home - I will help you get your home in shape, and the results are immediate! What are you waiting for? It is time to achieve your goal of a less cluttered and more functional and beautiful home.
